Using songs of Dylan, Billie Holiday and the Velvet Underground as a road map, they strive to manipulate, structure and style their music with honesty. The West Coast singer/songwriter has no qualms about resurrecting Franks Wild Years-era Tom Waits & filtering it through the "new weird America" sound of fellow crooners Andrew Bird & Devendra Banhart, but he manages to find the perfect balance between melody & texture.
